Travelling with a Toddler Must-Have items

Travelling with a toddler can be both a fun and challenging experience. It's important to be prepared and have the right gear to make the trip as smooth as possible. Here are some must-haves for traveling with a baby or toddler under the age of 5.

  1. A Comfortable and Sturdy Stroller

A good stroller is a lifesaver when traveling with a toddler. Look for one that is lightweight, easy to fold and has a good storage basket. A stroller with a canopy is also a great option to protect your child from the sun. I recommend the Summer Infant 3D.

This stroller is a versatile and convenient stroller that is designed to provide a comfortable and smooth ride for both parents and babies. It features a 3-position recline seat, a 5-point harness, and a large canopy to protect your little one from the sun and wind. The stroller also has a compact fold for easy storage and transportation, as well as a large storage basket for all your baby essentials. The parent tray with cup holder and storage area also make it more convenient for parents. With its durable construction and easy maneuverability, the Summer Infant 3D stroller is a great choice for parents on the go.

2. A Portable, Lightweight, FOLDABLE Carseat

A car seat is essential for traveling by car, but it can also be used on airplanes and buses. Look for a car seat that is easy to install, lightweight, and portable. Some car seats are even designed to convert into a stroller for added convenience, like the popular Doona Infant Carseat/Stroller

For the price; however, the WayB Pico is a much better investment as it is approved for both car and airplane use, and can fit your child until they are at least 5 years old.

3. A Diaper Bag with Insulated Pockets!

A well-stocked diaper bag is a must-have when traveling with a toddler. Especially one with insulated pockets to keep those drinks and leftover milk at the perfect temperature during an extended flight. Make sure to pack extra diapers, wipes, a change of clothes, a pacifier, and any other essentials your child may need.

I really enjoy this diaper bag because it has extra handles that allow me to attach it to my sturdy, lightweight stroller. This bag keeps me hands-free so I can enjoy exploring the city during vacations and our layover trips, making everyone happy.

4. A Portable High Chair

A portable high chair or booster seat is a great way to ensure that your toddler has a safe and comfortable place to eat, both at home and while traveling. These high chairs are designed to be easily transported and set up, which make it a great option for all parents who want a high chair that can be used in multiple locations and situations. They typically have a lightweight and compact design, and many models can be folded up for storage or travel.

Having a portable high chair that fits in your purse is what makes this chair a must have item our list. We use ours at restaurants, while visiting family, and even on certain tour buses! I love that the straps are adjustable, making it suitable for children of different ages and sizes. Plus, high chairs like these are much more affordable than traditional high chairs and a lot less weight!

5. Adjustable Phone/Tablet Mount

Hands-down (pun!) this is my favorite travel gadget. It is important to pack a few of your toddler's favorite toys, books, or movies to keep them entertained. However, if you're one of those parents who don't allow screen-time for your toddler, feel free to skip ahead.

As for the rest of us...

If nothing else, this is the item you absolutely cannot live without if you are traveling with a toddler. Toddlers and babies can get bored easily, so it's important to bring along some entertainment to keep them occupied. My phone is packed with downloads of my daughter's favorite attention-grabbing Youtube videos and they have saved me from countless public meltdowns. I simply mount the phone to her stroller, the restaurant table, the airplane tray, a chair, or even our carry-on luggage handle bar and we are both good to go! I don't have to worry about her dropping my phone or bending down a million times to pick it up. Win-Win!!

6. Inflatable Bathtub

An inflatable infant bathtub is an ultra-convenient and portable option for bathing your baby. Many hotels only have standing showers or super slippery bathtubs that are too big for small babies. Made of durable, soft material, these bathtubs can be easily inflated and deflated for storage and travel. They come in a variety of sizes and designs, and often have features such as built-in seats and non-slip surfaces for added safety and comfort. Inflatable infant bathtubs are a great alternative to traditional hard plastic tubs, and are a great option for busy parents on-the-go.

7. Carrier with Great Back Support

I love this carrier. When I began looking at carriers, I tried every single one before deciding that what I really needed was back support for keeping baby happy on those long trips.

The LÍLLÉbaby Complete All Seasons Ergonomic 6-in-1 Baby Carrier was designed with good back support to provide comfort for both the baby and the wearer. The adjustable straps and padded lumbar support distribute the weight evenly across the shoulders and hips, reducing strain on the back. This carrier also features a built-in head support for the baby, ensuring their head and neck are properly supported. The carrier is made from breathable, soft fabric for added comfort. It is easy to use and adjust, making it perfect for both short and long-term wearing. It's a great option for parents on the go, who want to keep their little one close while still being able to move around freely. This is the only carrier you will ever need.

Of course, the most important item to bring with you is patience. The above items will certainly make traveling with a baby a little easier, but be prepared for things to take longer and have an extra toy or snack with you in case of any unexpected delays or expected melt downs. They won't be this small forever so enjoy it!

ok...carry on.
